ICE problem
Hi folks,
Just had a pioneer stereo fitted with an ipod adaptor. I mean just, so the car is going back to the shop tomorrow, but wondered if anyone had any ideas on this problem...
Only when listening to the ipod and only when the ignition key is in position 2 the sound cuts out about every 30 seconds for about 2 seconds then comes back on. The ipod doesnt pause during this time, I miss a couple of seconds of the song.
It doesnt matter if the engine is running, but if the ignition key is in position 1 then it plays fine continuously.
Just wondered if anyone had had this before in case the shop tried to give me any guff. Its made more complicated by the fact that I bought it off the net [new] but got it installed locally.
Many Thanks

Have you considered buying an iTrip FM transmitter for your iPod. If you don't know about it, then it fits onto your iPod and transmits an FM wavelength which you then simply tune in your car radio too. The sound bandwidth isn't as good as the phones, but difficult to tell with the music from the engine at 6300+
I had similar when running too much bass in my old MR2 .. the car couldn't take the current (the lights used to dim with the bass beat too).
Try turning any subs off and the volume down and see if it carrys on.
A power cap could solve the issue, or a hi-spec battery.

Hmm
Thank you for your replies, I did know about the itrip, but liked the idea of being able to control the ipod from the tuner/dash. Also I had a friend send me one from the states which mysteriously disappeared via customs - I dont think they are strictly legal here ho hum.
The reply about bass is interesting, I dont have any subwoofers and am only running stock speakers, however this problem may have occurred since I turned on the 'Loud' option, although I dont actually play the music that loud I just thought it might boost the bass, Ill try turning it off. Its at Unicar at the mo who said 'this is a real head scratcher this one' such confidence.
Cheers

My Dension ICE>Link does an on/off thing about 6 times I'm guessing its the head unit checking the CD changer which causes it to go on and off.
