Default Injector cleaning

I dont know that much about injector cleaning but the place im going to take them to does an ultrasonic cleaning of them.

I contacted the guy and he explained, but he said they dont gaurantee them after they have been cleaned which is quite worrying.

My S has done about 110k miles, and i believe they could do with a clean as well as me changing the fuel filter - as i get an ECU misfire on cylinder#1 which doesnt happen too often but after fault finding I believe its the above.

Do you think they are safe to clean? and is of any benefit?

Im sure injectors are quite reliable over time, but sometimes need refurbed or replaced.

Just seems most people get them cleaned and there are in a good state to begin with. I have used injector cleaner with no success.

cheers

The dealer I work in use a cleaner which is added to the fuel tank, it's supposed to clean lines and injectors, I have tried some in my runner and certainly felt an improvement. Unfortunately the name of it escapes at the mo, will look tomorrow and post it up then.

cheers for that.

Though i think that inj cleaner may make it worse by depositing the crud or deposits elsewhere.

Injector cleaner is "ok"

It will just send softish deposits into the engine. Solid rocket fuel

I'm not convinced they work as a one off, I think you need to use it persistantly for a while.

For proper injector cleaning and spray pattern testing, find a Bosch centre or preferably try Mark at Lateral Performance.

http://www.lateralperformance.co.uk/

Some on here have had good results with injector testing and cleaning.

There is a point where its almost cheaper to just get some from the US, new.

In answer to your question though, they are safe to clean and yes there is a benefit when your car has done a lot of miles.

I wouldn't pin your misfire faults on this until you have proved the basics though.

I have 1 spare standard injector if one of your injectors is knackered. Let me know!

I had a similar problem on my CTR a couple of years ago.Thought it was one of many things, eventually the output driver that signals the coilpack to 'fire' died. This was caused by a faulty injector (high resistance) to backfeed and damage the output driver, therefore needing a new ECU.
This can be checked by doing a resistance check on each injector by unplugging the injector and taking a reading across the terminals.(engine off of course).Readings against each injector should be similar, if not you have a problem.Back feeding happened at high revs, damaging my ECU.

Eh, Had brain fade tonigh tand forgot the name of the cleaner, I'm sure it is something like E2000 or even S2000, Anything it cleans off the injectors is forced into the engine and burnt away, the tech reckons used every service is enough but if you use decent fuel ie optimax this should be ok between services.
