Can anyone suggest some interesting driving routes in the Roscommon area?
Heading down there next weekend to visit some relatives and may have some time to go exploring...

Preferably something that brings me somewhere/to something... but all suggestions welcome...

Also, how do you lot get the car up on 4 jack stands? Front first seems obvious, using central point, but jack then wont go un the back to get to the diff - I've organised a couple of thick planks and hope that driving the back wheels onto them before jacking up the front should mean I've enough clearance to get the jack under at the back?

Mohill to carrick on shannon across the back roads is a good bit of road. But you may need to bring a life jacket if the weather doesn't change

Thats a good bit further north than Roscommon ... about 60km as crow flies judging by GoogleMaps, which makes it more likely near double that

Noted for future though - think I know that route actually, drove it a few times a few years ago when going to a place near Carrick-on-shannon, though that was in an '04 Ford Focus van - which wasnt that bad actually with the torque from the 1.8diesel.

My daily runner Civic went through the NCT tonight... everything sailed through...(not surprising, even though I gave it no special preparation, just happened to have washed it and changed the oil last week when I realised the NCT was due in Feb)

... but it failed... Why? Tyres dont have "E" marks as they were fitted in Japan! A new regulation since April this year! They're feckin Bridgestones too, not some cheap sh!t!
F***ers!

Still, its only a visual re-inspection and a plan is forming....

A trolly jack should go under the rear diff handy enough the put axle stands under the chassis legs....

It does if you havnt already lifted the front onto axle stands - i.e. when you need to get all 4 corners up simultaneously.

I'm going to try with a couple of planks under the back wheels once I get someone free to give me a hand bleeding the brakes (after fitting the braided lines)

Insurance renewal time....

No problems on the Civic Vi - it stays as is as the claim wasn't with them, actually went DOWN! Only €450 third Party F&T - could probably make it €430 if I remove their little "benefits package"....

However, on the S....

I'm considering XS-Direct - Anyone insured with them? I know Dave was/is?

Any hidden gotcha's they might not publicise?

Considering taking a policy with them on the €1000 excess option.

Quote from them is €1564 w/€1000 excess. Otherwise, my renewal with Aviva is €2133 w/€600 excess.

Could get it down as low as about €900 with XS Direct if I took a €4000 excess but don't want to go that high.

Nobody else will quote due to the car, my age, number of points and the claim this year.

Was insured with them for a year just to get insurance on the s2k....

Had that 4k excess thing but managed to get through...

dint think that your renewal quotes were too bad considering the last year of events....
