sorry chaps, typed the previous reply on my iphone when I should've been working - hence it was brief.

- Thanks for the help, everyone.

I also had a look at my ecu now in my lunch break and thankfully it's only got the 10mm bolts and not the triangle ones, so that should be easy to get off them.

Plan tonight in the sun to change the ecu and raise my rear suspension a tad... I've got decat, manifold and intake. With a planned j's racing exhaust at some point. I'm looking forward to seeing the low / mid range gains as on track I noticed it'd often be ever so slightly out of vtec coming out of the corners.

When people say mis shift, they don't mean... just the gear doesn't go in qutie and you end up hitting the limiter do they? I'm assuming you all mean i miss say 4th and end up in 2nd or something?

I can't see missing the gear and hitting the limiter at 9200 rpm doing much damage, but I could understand down shifting incorrectly doing plenty.

You will like the J's

RE the mis shift, yep we mean missing the gear and going for a lower one. But this is the same in any car / ecu so no worries.

Look forward to hearing your views on the ECU

This has got to be mine which I sold a while back. It has been mapped to run with the following mods:

Mugen cooling mods (thermostat, thermoswitch and rad cap)
Amuse dual exit exhaust
J's racing manifold
J's straight pipe (decat)
NGK irridium plugs (1 step colder)
Mugen CAI

Please note that J's dis specify NOT to run with a cat as it will get damaged. The plugs were also recommended.

Let me know if you need any further information.

Just to confirm it is my old ECU - I stuck the J's Racing sticker on the back of it.

Mine came from a user in greece... It wasn't a j's sticker, it was a metal j's thing on it.

This is mine

First impressions aren't great, I can't really notice that much difference... There is a definate improvement lower down say around 4-7k rpm...

However, it almost feels like there's less 'umpff' after 7.5k -> 9k rpm.

It's early days though, so I'll keep using it and seeing how it is. It is also possible that I really need that j's racing exhaust to get that power back at the higher peak rpms.

Paul you really should get the car on a dyno if you haven't already and check the AFR.
