Thread resurrection time...

My MY06 car only came with one 3 button remote fob, but I've recently picked up a second used one to have as a spare.

Anyway, trying to programme it earlier this evening as per the method above (turn ignition on, press fob button, ignition off, repeat etc.) I can't seem to programme the other remote in. I've got the process right as I managed to disable my original remote by accident and then reprogrammed it fine, but the new one won't play ball. The little red light on the end flashes when I press a button so the battery appears to be OK.

Are all 3 button remotes compatible does anyone know? The stickers on the back have a different layout but the frequency and CE marking are the same. There's a 6 digit code that is different (remote serial number?) and another code, my original is G8D-453-H-A, the other one is G8D-345-H-A.

Any ideas?

i learnt from trial and error that only the fob with 453 could be coded to work with my 2001 car, tried two other fobs with different codes (cant recall the numbers but they didnt work). maybe this is the same to all years?

(CAT 1 T2)
Unlike the CAT 1 T1 (08E50 CAT 88801) the CAT 1 T2
(08E56 CAT 88801) does not need a RED MASTER KEY
The simplest way to distinguish between a T1 and a T2 is
that the T1 Central Locking Locks after the fourth flash
of the vehicle indicators when the handset is pressed and
the T2 the locks immediately, with the first flash of the
traffic indicators, when the handset is pressed.
Handset Learning Procedure
The handsets are designed to transmit a new code with
each press of the button. Regardless of the number of
codes analysed, a pattern cannot be identified
