Default Leaky boot

Seen quite a few tread about the leaky boot but dont seems to have any write up about how to fix this. Since my boot was flooded as you can see, decided to give it a go and share the experience with you guys (helping others for a change!)

Started with striping the boot down and pour some water all over to see if I can locate the leakage. The whole carpet is wet apart from the passanger side, so I start my investigation from the driver side.

Once the water is pouring down around the rear light and antenna the water are dropping in, there're two water path where the water was coming in.

1) Antenna - due to loose fixing. Loose the mounting bolt (gold 10m bolt one from the pic above) so that you can move it up and down. As you can see, there is a 1-2mm gap if you push it up. To solve the leak I have applied some liquid seal around the antenna seal and push it right down while tighten the mounting bolt. Then wipe the excessive sealant out before it is dried.

2)Bumper side fixing (only small leak) at the far right of the 2nd pic. - undo bolt/screw A & B from the pic., pull the side of the bumper towards yourself and make room to undo the three mounting screws for bumper spacer, apply liquid seal around the inserts. I have also applied some to the black small plastic cap sits behind the bumper spacer.

Hope this helps and thanks for looking

Regards

Terry

Both side were dry and there's only damp at the bottom before I take all the carpets out, but it was a different case underneath. When I pour water over the antenna the water runs down towards the rear light then fall down to the bottom once its created a pond.
