Default Lots of whinging posts at the moment

I seem to be reading a lot of posts where people are saying things like - I've got a (minor) problem and if I can't sort it I'm getting rid of the car.

I wonder why this is - are people expecting too much because of the recent S2000 survey successes?

The S2000 isn't perfect - but that's what I like. It's an enthuisiasts car, and it's good to have a bit of a niggle here and there, gives me something to think about! A perfect car, with no niggles would be very boring IMO

Just thought I'd mention it

Was thinking the same myself last night Neil. I also feel that those of us who have either
a: been around a bit longer
b: run "sports cars" in the past
c: had to work hard to keep a car running (usually due to age)

are much more forgiving of a problem and will quite happily put in some work to fix it ourselves.

It's only going to get worse as the cars age and more are on their fourth of fifth owner, who is trying to run the car on the cheap.

All cars develop niggles and faults as they age.

Unfortunately, there will never be a ready supply of cheap secondhand parts out there.

The other thing is that the ownership profile dilutes as sales grow, so you don't have as many people thinking, "it's a sports car, it's supposed to be noisy and have the odd rattle".

True, but at least I didn't sulk, and say I was selling the car because of it

I suspect its a case that not many people have been running theirs much with the nasty weather and forgot that it's actually quite noisy.

You'll be telling me that it's got stiff suspension next

Maybe it's Honda's fault for putting a clock in the 04 - makes new buyers think that it might be a Ford Focus.

All problems will be forgotten when the sun comes out and the roads dry up.

Right thats it! I've had enough of this noisy car and stiff suspension and whingey forum! I'm off to go and buy a Porsche Boxter.

Only kidding but I do agree there are a lot of people out there that think this way. Wheres the issue with spending a bit of time and care on your motor to keep it running well and when a problem does arrise just deal with it. I bet your average Fezza driver doesn't think about chopping it in every time they've got a problem... I think quite often people don't know what they're getting into, they just see the "high revving japanese sports car" and don't think about the maintenance/upkeep required for a specialist vehicle...
