But it's so much nicer to drive. It reminds me of the K20 Ivtec I had in the DC5, which was a nicer engine to drive than the F20. Now it has that low down flexibility of the Ivtec.
And it really flies through the gears!

MB, The bonnet looks a nice neat job, is it worth sealing around cut so that minimal moisture goes against the underside of the bonnet?
It really is taking shape, seats are definatley on the list, did you consider makes like OMP, Sparco and Corbeau? Huge range there and you wouldn't have to worry about availability of rails etc?

Nomad, the cut area is sealed with some rubber stuff. Or do you mean the bonnet skin? That will be fine. Si who has my old S reports no rust on his and it's been like that for about 3 years.
Punch, gears are a step too far for me. I've also been told from a couple of seasoned racers that they tried all sorts and ended up with the OEM gearing as optimum. Gears are good for sprint type courses I guess.
Redun, good info ta!

Ta Si.
Right significant step today, and one i've been really looking forward to.
Had the CG treatment! Scope of work was to do the usual bushes check, install the Tien Monoflex, and fit front upper and rear lower and upper braces (Cusco and J's)
So I dropped the car off Wednesday first thing and had a good chat with Chris. A really nice and helpful chap, and was great at talking me through the job and the pricing. Chris did a good health check of the bushes and found 5 out of 10 to be a problem, but later reduced that to 2. Interestingly he found 2 of my upper ones were stuck! Didn't have to resort to cutting one of the wishbones off either.
About midday I left for home with a view to coming back the following evening.
Got there at 3pm today to watch Chris finish up the checks. 2 full days work on the car. He is extremely thorough and every nut and bolt is marked. The detail which goes into the setup is mind boggling too
I now have a much better understanding of things.
So everything was put into good order and I have 2 degrees of camber up front, and a bit less at the back. Quite aggressive
It's also been lowered front and rear, with a bit of a nose down 20mm drop at the front. Rear Powerflex non compliant bushes were fitted to the rear to get rid of the RWS effect. Suspension was set to 8 (middle) all round. And off for a test drive.
Now my major worry was that the Tein would be too hard for road driving, but they are superb. Back to them later... Chris took me out in the car to check it, and make me dizzr round a roundabout
first impressions were very good. Once I got behind the wheel I noticed how tight the car felt. My old suspension had sagged a fair bit and geo was all out. Now if just feels really direct, and the lack of RWS / toe in is bloody great. I now know where the back end is!
The Teins are weird. Driving over drain covers and pot holes is actually better than OEM stuff, but it's still harder and gives less roll. This was exactly what I was hoping for! Same as the Ohlins on the Exige - it actually improved the road and track manners.
On the way home, some of the speeds I could take wet bends was impressive, and that's not even near the limit.
So it's currently on 8 out of 16, but it could go up a notch or 2 even on the road.
In summary, i'm over the Moon. CG have done a superb job and the car is transformed into a much better road car, and i'm sure a much better track car too. It wasn't the cheapest option, but i'm certain after talking to and watching Chris, that I got the best service possible
I also think that you need an expert at tackling these bushes or you could end up paying a lot more and getting a bad end product to boot.
Can't wait to get it on track
More pics to come tomorrow. Will try and fit the EDFC at some point too.

PS - Chris has a Cusco front upper brace available for £50 if anyone wants it (new) Same as the one I now have.
