MY02 Rotting Wheels
Guys,
Have any of you 02-03 users had any problems with the lacquer on the wheels going milky?
This is happening on the shiny bit of the wheel, on 3 of my wheels. Spoken to Lookers in nottingham about it and they have taken some pictures to send to honda, but are taking ages getting back to me about it.
Also one of the wheels looks like its stone chipped and they reckon honda wont change this one even though the "milky lacquer" effect could not have been caused by this. Can anyone tell me if they are just fobbing me off, or if they've had this argument before with a dealer/honda and what the outcome was?
Cheers
Daz

Funny you should mention wheels. I'm getting a new set next week as they show signs of pitting (only done 13000 miles). The rear set were damaged last year when getting tyres fitted (by the dealer) - he waited until winter was over before replacing them, but noticed during my service in March that the fronts were showing signs of pitting and corrosion. I reckon this was a clever ploy on his part to get a full set under warranty, but I've no complaints, as I'm totally happy with the result. I mentioned if it was worthwhile supaguarding them - he reckoned probably not, but will give me a bottle of the stuff for free to try it anyway.
Anyway, said service manager told me that they are getting "loads" of claims for new alloys. He reckoned that suppliers were getting pushed so hard by manufacturers that the quality
was suffering. He said that alloys and brake discs were the worst.
I would push for a full set - make sure you check the others for pitting - this gives you more of a case I guess.

Did you get your car from Lookers! & did you see Les the service manager
Tell them you WANT them repaced under warranty stone chips or not, tell them you will write to Honda UK.
Never had a problem with lookers.

The wheels are sub-standard and you have every right to have them replaced.
When I had my wheels replaced the dealer simply sent some pics off to Honda and when they got the Ok they replaced em

Thanks for the replies guys, i'm not trying to rip anyone off, and if only 3 wheels are corroded i only want 3 replaced, but feel aggravated when i have to do all the chasing about after spending a lot of money on a UK car.
I didnt buy the car from Lookers, but a Honda warranty is a Honda warranty, and i still have a choice to where i take the car for service and parts.
All i'd like is a bit of customer service.
Anyway, thanks for supplying me with the service managers name i'll go to see him later today.

Good news guys, I went to Les at lookers that evening, he took some more pictures of my wheels sent them off to honda, and has just informed me that honda will be prepared to swap them under warranty. So Lookers came out well in the end. Thanks Les if you read this.
