It's like the starter isn't disengaging from the flywheel or somthing. Anyone know what this noise is and how to fix it (very intermittant):

Could be the starter being a bit sticky and not returning properly..

I'd take it off, clean it and put it back again before I would think about replacing bits.

I think this is quite common, especially in colder weather, and is starter motor related.

The general consensus was that it was ok to leave alone.

Eventually you'll knacker the pinion or ring gear.
I would fix it as said previously

Ok, so possibly a case of removing the starter motor and cleaning and/or greasing somthing? I'll have a look at the workshop manual and see if I can work out what's involved, and whether I have the ability/tools to do anything about it.

Hopefuly I'll have my new exhaust soon, so maybe I can have a go at it when I'm doing that.
