The real question is where they are going with power. To compete it's going to have to be around 220-240 which as we know is S2k territory. It will be intersting to see whether Honda will sell two cars with identical power for a

Wasn't there originally mention of a type-RR as well on the new model. More weight reduction, rawer and more oomph IIRC?

I think the Astra VXR proves that 240bhp through the front wheels is taking it a bit too far, Honda have a reputation for making cars which are dynamically good these days, and not worrying too much about headline grabbing power figures at the expense of the handling characteristics (though the 'old' CTR is a handful in the wet I understand).
I'm not sure I agree with that. When the current CTR came out it was sold and advertised as being the first hot hatch with 200bhp, and it's success was largely down to the power and price which was unheard of at the time.

IMO It's not really that good to drive, it certainly wasn't a patch on my MY90 Mk2 Golf 16v, and needs an lsd to get that kind of power down.

That Top Gear article has an awful photoshop picture. The alloys are taken off an NSX and don't look remotely like they're connected to the car, and the whole car looks like an enormous Ford Ka. Top Gear magazine really has plumbed the depths recently, I gave up on it about a year ago.

I have to admit that that 240bhp in a FWD drive maybe a step too far. Driving my ATR it torque steers like a b*tch even with the LSD and its a far larger car.........

Now a RWD CTR...........that would be fun...........but probably impossible!!
