Default New head unit required

My present cd/radio unit is malfunctioning now and so I searched for advice, not much help, most from the USA and model numbers not the same over here, so, has anyone fitted a new unit lately, I really just want a decent powered (obviously) cd/radio with DAB maybe, don't need bluetooth etc if I can help it, rather spend money on good basics rather than frills any suggestions guys. Ta.

Using the standard crap for the moment and had forgotten how poor it is.

I bought one of these last December - http://amzn.eu/bVWQvSH

I have since swapped out the stock speakers for Alpine ones and stuck a Kenwood sub under the passenger seat.

It's not mega loud or anything but sounds a lot better.

Which Alpine speakers and Kenwood amp did you opt for?

I have a Pioneer which I have been impressed with but I do use BT all the time and have used the CD maybe once. DEH X8500 DAB?

Local radio place said Kenwood are good, avoid Sony.

Also put an under seat sub in, my BM has these and they are impressive. It does a good job I'm. My speakers are components tho

Bought a Kenwood unit today similar to the one linked to above(a model below that, less inputs/outputs but enough for me) pity joy the intermediate connector for the remotes isn’t just plug and play as before, will call the dealer next week for advice, this unit doesn’t has a socket for the jack plug to go in, still, plenty of options to play with to keep me occupied.
