Hi to all - I am potentially purchasing my first S2K however after the testdrive it was clear that the clutch was almost dead - lots of slip even under gentle load.

The seller has said they will have it replaced before sale at the garage they use (must be a friend) for around £450, or they will knock £500 off the price so I can have it done myself. Problem is if they do it they will not use genuine Honda parts which concerns me, after doing some research of the costs - I can get a genuine one for £370 but even the after market ones from Eurocar parts are more expensive than this.

It seems that I probably wont get it done for £500 for both parts and labour but it concerns me of the quality of the parts they will use if they do it before sale.

What are people's thoughts on the situation?

One last thing - the car is located 35 miles away from me and I would not have confidence with it making it home with the current clutch so it might have to be recovered which is extra expense.

Offer £4000 and get the genuine OEM clutch off a trader on here for about £400.00, then get it fitted by a reputable garage for about the same amount.

A friend of mine got his for £4200, private, red 2000 model, ~50k miles, needed nothing.

The OEM is superb and at the sort of prices Tegiwa and Hendy will do them for, it's a no-brainer.
