Default Nurburgring

I've decided I absolutely HAVE to go to the ring next year. Just starting my research, who knows information and sources to help make the trip a good as possible?

I've been quite a few times too, although never in the S.

All I can say is do it, you won't regret it.

Just go easy for the first few laps, there's a lot of very tricky corners, some of them blind, some of them off-camber, some of them tightening, some of them with bumps mid-bend, some of them with all of the above.

Everything you need to know is on Ben Lovejoy's site (link in the previous post).

You can get from Calais to the ring in about 4 hours (watch your speed in France though!).

As for hotels, they all seem to be very clean and comfortable, but I usually stay at Hotel Am Tiergarten:

e-mail: info@am-tiergarten.de

Don't worry they speak pretty good English. It's right next to the track, less than 1/2 mile from the entrance. There's nothing better than being woken to the sound of the first cars out on the ring!

You must do it! I'll see if I can fish out the details where I stayed and PM them to you. Have a look around on some of the other car clubs too as a few do group tours there so you might be able to tag on with them? I went over with a group of bikers which was cool.

is the dogs dude!! do remember to get a ringers sticker from the cafe once the addiction has taken hold... guareenteed!!

treat with caution, travel round the track on the right hand side of the tarmac.. its a public road remember!! have been there when a guy got killed, so respect not just the track, but those who can and will go faster than you.

best times not to go : public holidays/summer weekends. a good time i have found is weekday evenings - as less busy for obvious reasons.

The thought of it does scare me a bit, partly my own lack of ability could lead to me flying off the track, the other is other drivers who might be loonies and crash into me.

However I will be going. But do send me any info you can it will be greatly appreciated.
And what's a ringers sticker - is that a Bavarian sexual practise?

I'll most likely be there at Easter and in August for the Oldtimers weekend. Not sure of any other dates yet though.

Easter is good as the circuit is open for 4 full days. It can get quite busy, but I've found a lot of the people just sit in the car park and the track doesn't get too bad. You also get to see more exotica on a big weekend like Easter, which is part of the fun!
