Default Open top ventilation mode

Looking in the manual it says that when the ventilation knob is set to the open air setting, air should come out of the footwell vents, the vents above the stereo and both vents either side of the instrument binnacle.

On mine, even with the fan on max setting I don't get any air coming out of the left-side binnacle vent and only a slight breeze coming out of the right side binnacle vent. Meanwhile, the stereo vent is blowing nicely and a typhoon is blowing around my ankles.

Anyone else get this?

Yes thats right ted - you should get it out of the vent to the left of the passenger, the vent to the right of yourself and the vents above the stereo - you dont get it from the middle binnacle (never heard that word b4 - nice one!) vents.

I thought a "binnacle" was some kind of shellfish that sticks to a boat.

I had exactly the same question when I bought my S. So I went to the dealer and double-checked with other S2000's that they had. They were all the same as in mine and yours. So it is normal. The manual is wrong.

I'm surprised you didn't get it mixed up with coracle - isn't that the standard mode of transport in your neck of the woods ?

As for air vents - in my car the top down setting only seems to blow air out of the footwell (normally at thermonuclear meltdown temperature for the driver), and the stereo vent - negligible air from the binnacle vents.

In cold weather I tend to toggle between this and the hands and feet setting.

Thanks for the feedback fellas. Oh, and thanks also for the English lesson.

Really glad to know that it's not just my car that has this - saved me a trip to the dealer.

Ian,

Something for you to include in the technical FAQ?
