Outdoor covers
Afternoon all,
I'm wondering if anyone on here has any experience with covers that fit the s2000. I'm going travelling soon and will be away for at least a year. As i haven't got a garage to keep my S in i'm going to do the next best thing. I've done a search on here but not finding the answers i'm looking for. If money was no object, i would go all out and buy a custom made one but dosh is a bit tight with saving up for the trip in all. Cox have a genuine Honda cover on their website for £120, has anybody used on here used one? Searching around on the net brings up quite a lot of choice, from cheapie halfrauds ones to ones that hundreds. Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers

I honestly wouldnt put a cover on it . Ive bought £400 coveres before , all stating this and that . Always completly cleaned the car before putting it on and yet they all still left marks ! Better off paying someone to clean it once a month or rent a garage for it while your away .
Have a nice trip
where you off too ?

I agree - putting a cover on the car...even the very best cover money can buy... and leaving it unattended for 12 months really isn't an sensible option.
Best bet would be putting the car into secure storage - more and more of these places seem to be popping up withe the rise in interest in classic cars.

Cheers for the replies people. I take your point on damaging the paint so i've been having a looking around for proper storage solutions. I've found a place really closed to me so i'll pop down and see what they can offer. They seem to do storage in containers so that might be a good option, only problem is that it would cost £676 for 12 months. Perhaps if i go and see them in person they might give me some sort of discount, can only try.
Cheers again
P.s I'm off to Aussie land.

If by "storage in containers" you mean metal shipping containers I would be concerned about condensation unless the container has fans to ventilate it properly.
£6-700 isn't bad for a year's storage, but for that sort of money I doubt the car will be started regularly, run up to operating temperature and moved around to prevent the tyres from deforming. The better storage companies don't just put the car in a barn and cover it up, they'll provide proper care for it:
Storage - Classic Car Storage
On the face of it, it's significantly more expensive than just putting the car in a damp, unventilated metal box, but the real cost of doing that will become apparent in the months after you get the car back.
