Default A question about roofs:-)

Although I look into this forum most mornings after checking my business emails, this is my first posting, so HI. I bought my SK2 roadster this summer just as a fun car, in the past I have owned three Hondas including a Prelude and have great respect for the badge. Having said that, my main car is a 9-5 Saab Aero which I consider a superb vehicle grossly underrated by all including Mr Clarkson. My SK has to live out and on using it yesterday for the first time in two weeks there was dripping water from the inside hood although the car really felt very dry inside in general; I think this must have been condensation? I reproofed the hood some six weeks ago in preparation for this winter! My question is, should I consider a hard top, if so what preparation is needed apart from finding one to purchase. This is a great forum and it is good to find so many others that appreciate our beautiful car.

Condensation

HT will help to a degree but you're talking £500 for the fitting hardware plus another £500 on a roof.

A new softtop ( should you ever need one) is about £700 or so fitted.

Ignore the condensation unless you really have a £1000 need for some metal over your head

Have you greased the rubbers? Where is the leak? No point thinking about replacing yet if you can fix it first

The hood is not leaking, it is in first class nick; the inside was just covered with droplets of water that was I condensation. I drove the car for about ten miles with the heat on full and AC on and the misting immediately cleared, when I got back I wiped off the inside of the hood with tissue and have not looked to see what it’s like today. However, I have bought some of the stuff to grease the rubbers following tips from the forum a couple of weeks ago and will be doing that this weekend. I am so grateful for all the help coming forward, thanks.

This is definately condensation. Buy a car cover or at least put a waterproof cover just for the roof. This will make things better.

I have had a quote of £54.50 from The Cover Company, they call it an Arctic Top Cover. Has anyone seen or had one of these and would that help?

I just checked the Arctic Top Cover cover on-line and i believe it will help. If there are no leaks then the condensation inside the roof is created because the roof on the outside is always wet due to wet climates. I cannot be sure how helpful it will be as i do not not live in a climate similar to UK neither my car is parked outside. On the other hand i find the price a bit expensive for just a roof cover and for something that you can diy it a lot cheaper. If i were you i would give a bit more and buy a full car cover.

Thanks, I don't like the idea of a full cover, hopefully someone will know of the firm and their gear.
