where I too could liberate another 40bhp or so
True, but 40bhp extra in an M5 is a world different from 40bhp in a 930kg sardine tin

Have you compared with an e46 M3 gad. Is there any difference at all?

I personally think the other driver will be over the moon rather than stoney-faced. He just held of a 400bhp V8 super-saloon until 1XX mph! That's a big achievement in even a VXT.

I've just remembered I raced an R32 at Crail last time I was there. I had a good chat with the driver before hand and as expected he pulled a car length or so coming off the line. I pulled him back in pretty quickly and breezed past putting on a good 4-8 car lengths on the otherside before the quartermile mark. In truth it was a fairly easy kill - about as easy as a standard subaru wrx.
wonder if it was a mate of mine you raced.

Was it a silver one with private plate??

He is 6ft, blonde guy called andrew??

Nah this one was blue and the guy driving it was middle aged - in my discussions with him I got the impression he didn't know much about the S2000 (sort of went like this):

Me <peep>"Hey, you wanna go together?"
Him "Sure"
Me "Nice r32, always like them"
Him "Thanks, whats under the hood of that?"
Me "2.0l"
Him "Cool, is it modded?"
Me "Just a single exit exhaust for a bit more grunt and a lot more noise!"
Me "this should be pretty close, both cars are about the same"
Him <raised eyebrows>
1,2,3 GO
<caught, passed and gubbed>
Him "wow, that's not slow"

Cha-think

I drove M3s and M5s back to back before I bought

The M3 feels a tad nimbler around corners, and you sit lower

The M5 feels faster in a straight line

I just felt the M5 was different class in terms of presence, versatility, size and build quality

As it should be as the big bro to the M3

Something like a

321bhp is a far nicer figure
Better to have lower bhp and a chasis that can cope

either version would blow away an R32 without much difficulty

the Z3M is a far more capable car than most realise

as is the case with all M cars

.. you can compare an R32 with an S2000 just like you can compare a boxster S and the 350Z.. they're not leagues apart.. but GSi's car will gobble up and sh1t out any of these cars.

i'm still not buying it though

Yeah right o . Once the wheels stop spinning.
GSI I seem to remember not long after you got the coupe that you thought the rear was a little on the er.... greasy side. Is it fixed now
I actually really like the mzcoupe id forgotten about them. These are a perfect example of a car with bags of character, ugly as fook but hard looking. A bit like Jimmy Nail, not blessed with a pretty stick but youd sooner be with him in a dodgy pub than Peirce Brosnan.
I do like the look of the new mz4coupe. There you go gaddaffi theres 3 beemers i like.
