Default Is this really bad?!

I got my S2K at the start of last week but the docs arrived today. Its done 32K miles and the last service was at 18K miles, just how bad is this?

I called the dealer/fleet company and told them this was not acceptable. They have offered a full refund which I have taken them up on so no real problems for me, just wanted to know how bad this could be for the car etc.

Cheers

It's not great iDLe. If the service has been missed, how has the car been treated? Has it had any oil in this time? Maybe not.

More importantly you're unlikely to still have a valid warranty on the car.

Just remembered that I'm missing a stamp in my service book at 45k, but I have the invoice to confirm that the service was done. It could be as simple as that, can you contact the previous owner?

The car was on lease from 25th Jan 02 to 25th 04 with a company where a friend of mine works, he looks after the company cars and gave me a heads up when the cars lease was up. I then asked for all the details and was told that the car had done 31K with full service histroy. My mates company who leased the car prepared it for the return by cleaning up all paint/bodywork (not sure what this involved) and new tires all round. The car was a MY02 51 plate in black/black for 18K. All sounded good but when I saw the paperwork I could not believe it!!

At first the lease company offered to service the car and give me a third party warranty - I told them this was not good enough and they agreed to pay back all my cash. They collect the car on Monday so I still have the weekend to enjoy her.

Wish I'd found out sooner and gone after the black/red MY03 on Ebay - ended up at about 21K I think with only 4K miles!!

PS - I loved my S2k for the 2 weeks I had her but I'm seriously considering whether I buy another one, when its dry and sunny the car is amazing but in the rain it's just awful, last night I lost the backend again at about 20MPH without warning, scared the crap outta me again!!

Anyways cheers for your advice so far - maybe I'll be back!

I had no questions regarding warranty work even though the services weren't done on time. However this was the other way round thus

9000 mile service done at 1 year old with 3000 miles on clock
18000 mile service done at 2.5 years old with 6500 on the clock
27000 mile service done at 3 years old with 18000 on clock

So there was a little 'gap' in time but given that the mileage was so low I don't think it matters. However, I think they're more likely to take issue if it's gone past mileage intervals rather than time ones.

Sounds like the handling wasn't too clever either. Either that or you've got a heavy right foot.

Have you thought of buying a slightly cheaper S2000 and a "beater" car for under a grand to run round in when the weather's crap. It works for me and many others on here.

My beater costs me

I`m gonna be frank here. All this loosing the backend at 20mph crap is bollox. How can you say `I was doing 20 mph and I lost the backend`?

What you need to say is, I was doing 5 MPH and then I accelerated like a demon fecker upto 20mph in 1 milisecond. Now you could say you lost the backend.

I guarantee doing 20 mph and accel-ing gradually will NOT loose the backend. Its not the speed, its the rate you attain that speed. The speed is totally irrel.

(Anyhow, its sad to see you`re not getting another S, I think you should coz they`re fab!).

Idle, i think you did the right thing giving it back as it wasnt the car you thought it was.

If you've never had an S b4, or even a tail happy RWD sports car, then it does take some learning. Treat it with respect, and have decent tyres (Eagle F1's) and in the wet it is better
