You don't want long range when you lose one of these. Otherwise the numpty who picks it up stands in the middle of a huge carpark, presses the button, then has a nice shiny S2000 to drive away.
Short range is better...

I get the same range at the rear but about 5 to 6 ft from the front.

If I haven't already locked the car (which is parked on the drive), I can do it from the upstairs bedroom, without the need to go out into the cold.

(I wonder what riposte the mention of bedroom is going to bring out?)

Has this slipped from a blipper thread to a "fnaar, fnaar" euphemism one? I'm guessing that only from the last 3 posts!

I can lock lock mine from indoors too, although, mine is the later 3 button type, does this make a difference?

When you unlock the car with the remote fob, if you push and hold down the unlock button again within 3 sec of unlocking the car, the boot will automatically pop open. Its a little bit hit and miss though.
So Boot=Trunk? We have a trunk release button on our remotes here in North America. For convenience maybe y'all should consider using one of those, although the range still sucks, especially compared with my old Acura.
