Default Roll covers

Basically at one of the places were i looked at an S2000, the roll bar plastic covers appeared to be slightly separated at the seams.
On saturday when i went to another garage (where i purchased mine from), i looked all over the car when checking it, but cant remember if i checked the plastic roll covers or not and i'm racking my brain now to try and remember...

I'm sure it was fine, i probably would've noticed if they were split or not on this one but just wondering is this a common problem on S's, and what would cause it? I guess catching it with the hardtop would be a possibility?

If they are split they have been off for some reason and badly replaced (or removed). I seem to remember Neil (Bassoctopuus) saying soemthing about this once

They have to take them off if the roof is removed for some reason (such as rear screen replacement or indeed entire roof replacement - you can't just replace the glass on a 2002 onwards car).

When my plastic screen broke on the old S, they were glued back together by the dealer. You could always tell they'd been off. ...if you're petty like me!
