i had my wing smashed in day after supercharger was fitted. Needed new wing, arch liner and headlight and blown in at the front. Never was i ever told it was anywhere near a right off amount so I am a bit shocked at your experiences as that's hardly any damage...

It's all down to the value of the car against the cost of repairs, if it's within a year of the car being new against a car ten years old you are looking at two different outcomes, plus Honda parts are very expensive.

It's only something around 40-50pc of the value of the car to go write off I believe as estimates may uncover more damage (when it's taken apart).

My headlight was fooked despite a relatively minor scratches on the front, all the mountings were snapped off.

There is often more damage than seems obvious, insurers don't want the hassle of rejection of repaired car or this risk, they can sell the car to plenty of breakers so a zero sum game to them

I had an accident the other month and I've managed to source my parts off ebay

bumper £15 all clips present and correct but no one bidded
light with ballast £150
wing £150
hub £25
wishbone £25
headlight support £20

needs to be straightened out and painted but I'll sort that out later on as not driving it for a while.
