Default S2000 key

Hi all

I have had one of these for a couple of year (Fleabay 151075627620) although I paid a lot less for it!!

Anyway I have tried a local timpsons who said they can't cut the grooves and to try a locksmith which also said they couldn't cut the groves.

From memory I think Ian had one and he had to split it open and glue onto another key???

Is splitting in half the only option or should a decent locksmith (which I tried) be able to do it?

Thanks

I've just bought one of these from a different seller and have been doing my research.
Cutting requires a specialist auto lock outfit. They can copy another key but best bet is to get the key code from your Honda dealer. This requires proof of ownership. Then take or send the key to be cut. This will typically cost you around £20-25.
Then you'll need the transponder to be programmed for the immobiliser. Honda seem to generally charge £45 for this but one of my local dealers near Hemel has quoted £25. They need the new key, any other keys plus the car to do it.

BTW One of these genuine S2000 blank keys costs £115 + VAT from Honda!

Thanks I got my transponder from another key, I'll pop to Honda to see if they can help. I know they can cut the edges but I didn't realise the could cut the grooves out too

Popped to Honda at the weekend along with another 2 lock smiths but none of them could help which is a bummer

Think I'm running out of options.

Will try another Honda dealership that's out if the area
