Default S2K Help

Hi guys, Im fairly new to the S2K scene so I have a quick question to ask.

I am currently looking at a 55 plate (2006) Moonrock S2000. I just want to know whether it will have the new DBW throttle system. How can I check it if the owner is unsure himself?

A quick read of the FAQ manual is in order here.

Open the bonnet.
Look at the back left hand side.
See the black cable coming out of the bulkhead - does it go straight to the engine...

Or does it go to a little black box on the left hand side.. then links to the engine.
If it is the latter it is DBW.

Ok thanks gaspode, I will ask for a picture of the engine bay then. Is it known for a 55 plate to have DBW though or was it 06 onwards only?

Is it best to avoid DBW?

Since a Bowden cable consists of twisted strands of steel wire, the terminology is perhaps counter-intuitive.

Drive by copper Wires.

Drive by lots of steel Wires.

But Gaspode's right.

I doubt it has drive by wire, it came in on the MY06 cars, if it is a very late 55 it is possible.
Easiest way to tell is look at the seats.
If they have no hole in the head rest it WILL have drive by wire.
Nothing wrong with it, just makes tuning harder.
