If you save out your originals as 640*480 jgegs you should get them down to a few hundred kb each.

LOL.. Matt: I can only assume those are scanned images at that size, in which case you're scanning them at far to too high a resolution. Try scanning them at less dots per inch (dpi) About 80 dpi should be fine for web use!
