Default Scary moment in the S today

Went down to look at a second car today, and on the drive back i thought my exhaust had fallen off.Roof down, sunny day and all of a sudden there was a loud sound of metal grinding coming from under the car!I stopped and got out to have a look (Which blocked all the traffic but i panicked!) and nothing was hanging off underneath,i was very confused.I wasn't far from the dealer i bought it from,so i drove over and the scraping continued,i was worried sick!

So i took the salesman for a quick spin round the carpark. He smiled and told me not to worry,he knew what the problem was and he'd sort it in no time. What had happened was a stone had got in between the front drivers disc and the guard thats behind it,a few pokes with a screwdriver and solved!

I tell you what though,i was bricking myself up to that point!

Bits come off cars for real on proper jockmeets though ........

some poor bloke's homemade carbonfibre rear undertray made a dash for freedom on a moortop road near Langhom once IIRC.

i had the undertray type issue when i met my young lady many moons ago. She was from Lincolnshire and the back roads are all heavily cambered farm tracks - my car would constantly bottom out, it was lowered slightly.... grrrr.

she nearly got the boot for that

I'm surprised a salesman knew what to do!(oops, my profession for another 9 days),the tin plate behin the disc really amplifies the sound doesnt it.

Not much of a salesman, I'd have had a new pair of discs and pads off him for that one
