I'm there on business, but I've organised 4 free days!
It's a bit hilly in and around Frisco but try to get out to the Napa Valley if you have time - great vineyards and nice "central valley" roads. Of course, 4 free days means you can get to L.A. Don't get me started on that place, I'll be here all night!

Spooky, saw SF on Holiday last night, and thought, "must try and get out to Napa Valley".

Any idea how far Yosimete National Park is?

Isn't LA a gazillion miles away?

Yosemite is pretty much on the same longitude as SF and easily reachable in a day, via Highway 120. It's quite wintry though, so take care if you're planning a visit. You'll get charged $5 admission and you'll need to get petrol before you enter the park.

L.A is a day's drive down Highway 101 - one of the most scenic routes in the USA. It's a bit of a drive and you'll probably get side-tracked as there are some superb places en-route. Maybe best leaving it for a future trip, I guess!

I seem to have completely killed this thread's subject. Just what was it, exactly???

If I may get things back on thread......................

I am unsure if Chathams do their own bodywork or use someone else.

I would have said they were good, but I have had a bit of a row with them of late which I hope to sort on Saturday morning. They do claim to be very experienced with the S, but from what they did to mine, I am no longer so confident.

My previous Saab 9-5 lost an argument with a red deer stag and the work was done at my expense at the Western Motor Group bodyshop in Loanhead (just south of Edinburgh). Western have all the posh metal dealerships in Edinburgh, and the yard at the bodyshop was full of very sorry looking exotica including 3 or 4 TVRs (and you think we crash a lot).

Although not a big job, they did it very well. The only way you would suspect any work at all had been done on the car, was from the unusual lack of stone chips on a 2-3 year old motor.

Thanks euan,

Anybody know what the situation is with regards to warrnty's?

ie: If I get a Honda approved shop to do the work, will I be in a better situation with regards to Honda warranty than if I just get a non-approved shop to do the work?

Latest update is that the insurance engineer has seen photographs and thinks they can fix it. He's supposed to be giving the car a physical on Friday.

I spoke to Campbell Chatham today and Chathams have their own bodyshop & spraybooth next to the dealership (central Edinburgh). They have rebuilt S2000s before, and seemed pretty confident about working on them. In an '01 model they had changed the suspension settings etc to the '02 configuration as part of a rebuild, and said it made a huge difference.
They have agreed to fix my dings, and I am fairly confident they will do a good job (although they will have to remove the wing unfortunately).

Also spoke to Chathams on Friday and have arranged for them to take a look at the wreck.
Turns out that it's in the same scrap dealers yard that I mentioned earlier!
I spent 3 hours on hold, over 5 calls), on Friday trying to get thru to AXA. This is getting ridiculous!

Update.

Cars now at Chathams.
Insurance Engineer actually suggested them and slagged off Phoenix.
Also said that he wouldn't allow such a high performance car to be worked on by any old shop. It needed a specialist.
I like this guy!

Still haven't had to fill out any paperwork for the insurance. Apart from the amount of time on hold. My experience with AXA Direct claims has been V. good so far.
