Default Shipping a hardtop

I've currently got my hardtop up for sale and I've had some interest in it with everybody asking would I be willing to send it. It's one of the items that I really intended for collection only because I have no idea how to send such a awkward item as it doesn't come in a box, and I don't wont it to get damaged in transit.

So has anybody here sold a hardtop and how did you send it?

Yeah 90% of people want them shipping, I wouldn't bother unless you can do as above and put it in a crate. Trouble is they are larger than people tend to realise and the shipping cost is extortionate compared to the value of the hardtop.

Shipped mine to Denmark few years back. Approx £400 from Scotland iirc. Packaged it with 3miles of bubble wrap and stiff cardboard and still arrived damaged. They're very fragile..

The worst part was wrapping it. Literally took 3days. Do not underestimate the time involved during prep. Absolutely horrible job.

Why not just find someone local with an S that
owns a hardtop already (and thus the mounting holes) and have the buyer pay them time + petrol to drive the hard top to them on their car.

This is a decent idea! Where does it need to get to/from?

Thanks for the advice guys. I guess it's not really worth it, and the probability of it being damaged is quite high. I'll keep waiting for a buyer who can collect then.
