Default Soft Top Problem

I've recently discovered that the strap which holds the rear cross bar on my soft top is completely slack when the hood is up. This strap appears to hold the rear bar from moving any further forward so that the rear of the top is fully stretched. Upshot is that my hood isn't sitting properly.

Does anybody know what holds the strap in? Is it adjustable or fixed?

Fixed using rivets IIRC.

Not exactly sure which strap you are referring to but I will have a look shortly as I am going out.

There are *lots* of info on these straps on some of the old threads about changing the 00/01 to 02 hood.

Thanks Steven.
The strap in question is attached on the vertical part of the last part of the frame which supports the top of the hood. ie: the first bit of metal you come to above the rear window.
It disappears down the side of the hood and the rear hood well.

EDIT: had a good go at the search and couldn't find a thing

Forgot to have a look ..... but just been out with my torch and camera...

Is this the strap?

If these springs were not in place this strap would sag.....

Any use?

Many thanks Steven.

The problem though is that the bar is coming to far forward. The strap appears to stop the bar as the hoods going up. It's sitting about halfway along the cloth part in your picture.
I reckon the problems that they're not attached properly under the trim.

Looks ike I'll just need to take it in to the dealers.

I was trying to figure out whether the attachment under the trim was adjustable or fixed. ie: how big an issue is it.

Thanks again though.

Edit: I'd post a pic, but all I get is a "b" when I try to add an image.

Those springs were an addition to 02 model to cater for the rear glass window.

I remember that if you put an 02 hood onto an 00/01 frame you needed to improvise the springs to get the hood to fold down correctly.
