Sony MEX-R1 Headunit with InCarTec adaptor
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with a Sony headunit and the incartec adaptors to make the steering controls work. I have just bought the Sony MEX-R1 and the incartec adaptors, yet my steering controls still do not work. The cable that looks like a headphone jack running from the incartec adaptor does not seem to fit into the Sony headunit very well. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Simon.

Yeah there is only one hole for it and I have looked at the diagram and that is where external steering controls are supposed to plug into.
If I still can't figure it out after a month, I'll let you know when I'm selling it.

The audio jack lead should go right in to work, take a picture and ill tell you if you have it in correctly.
Other thing it could be is, I have a Countdown interface (i think they are the one's caTtec use) and had a similar problem, it turns out there are wiring differences with the age on Sony unit's so you might have the same problem. All i had to do was take out 2 of the wire's on the interface and it worked no problems. Then when i put my new one in, reconnect the wires for it to work with that one too.

The problem is, when the audio jack is in, none of the buttons work on the headunit, so it must be interfering with something?!?! When its unplugged everything is fine. Any ideas? Thanks for the help guys.
