Default Steering Locks

Hi all

I was wondering if there's enough room or a decent location(under the seat may be) for a steering lock. I currently use a type that covers half the steer wheel and is the 2nd toughest, the trouble is it's big and not easy to handle. I just throw it in the back when not in use.
The right steering lock stops the opportunist thieve and I'd like to use one when I get my S

So what do you lot do?

I trust to my immobiliser, alarm and Trackstar (which also has an immobiliser - I think ) I couldn't be done with one of those steering lock things in such a confined space

A related question -

I had Tracker fitted to my S2K but was surprised to find that they do not provide any indication notice stating that it is so 'alarmed' - presumably because any thief would then start looking for it to imobolise it.

This seems to me to be backward thinking. Any professional thief is going to look for a Tracker system anyway (there are only a limited number of places where it can be fitted) and I would prefer not to have an opportunist thief go off with the car and trash it before it can be found.

Surely a notice warning that the car is fitted with a satellite/radio tracking system would deter the opportunist thief, and is therefore worth displaying. What do Forum members think?

The corollary of that is, that everyone would then put such a notice on their cars and so the thieves would take no notice of it anyway.

I have no idea where my Trackstar is fitted and, in any case, if it's tampered with it alerts the RAC monitoring team - so I'm happy with the system and with no sticker

Be careful with steering locks. make sure you check that they fit the steering wheel before you buy one. I have one the bar type ones off my old car and thought I would use it on the S2000 but the steering wheel on the S2000 is too small for it to fit.

As well as having an alarm and immobiliser fitted I also wanted a steering lock as an obvious visual deterrent.

I bought a heavy duty yellow 'bar' lock from halfords. It simply clamps around the steering wheel rim, rather than the models which 'weave' through the sterring wheel itself. The Halfords 'bar' is also short enough to fit underneath the passenger seat. It will easily sit in between the seat and the chassis beam which stops it sliding around under heavy braking!

Hope this helps,
