agreed if you powerslide all over the place or understeer your way through corners then the tyres will be shot pretty quickly
If you drive the track as you would the public road without all associated hazards like pedestrians and other road users i.e drive quickly but not trying to break lap records then the tyres should be fine

yeah thanks guys, I agree, I will not be trying to powerslide all over the place, i will be trying to drive quicker and smoother than I do on the roads and trying to improve my techniqe rather than provoking the car on purpose. So I think I should be OK.
I am only concerned because Elvington is an old airfield and is concrete.

Tyre wear will depend on how you drive. I got away with very little wear on my tyres on the academy day in March. Some of the guys lost a lot of rubber (and were a lot better at the power slides).
Try 34 or 36 psi cold to start with. 36 was getting a bit skittish at Elvinngton in the past. Maybe 35 then!
Watch the shoulders of the tyres - it's these that you'll wear fast.
Build up speed gradually, and go for some training if you can.
If it goes open pit lane in the afternoon (it might) don't be tempted to do long stints - it's when the tyres get really hot that they wear very fast.
I might be there in the afternoon (though I'm not taking the S on track this time) - was hoping to be there all day, but that's not worked out.
If you're nervous, I'd recommend seeking out Tom - aka Tommyboy on the Honda-R forums. Big Scottish bloke with a tash. A very good driver - and nice chap. He'll be able to help out on the day.
