Wow. That's a hell of a waiting list, I would be thinking about expansion if I was them!
I had an inspection and quote from 'The Motorist' in Sherburn near Leeds and they were reasonable at £850 plus VAT if you're struggling for alternatives and that's within a reasonable distance for you.

What I did notice was the core issue is around the wheels where are the stones and salt are flying at speed, more onboard, less issue

Thanks.. are you gonna bite the bullet? I was thinking of doing the obvious myself to be honest.. it's dirty work but I know I won't cut any corners and will probably learn a bit. I did tidy up some patches when I was doing various jobs under the car, brake lines and some brake ducts.. will check how they have held up
