Default Wanting to mod...don't know what to do 1st

i am thinking about modding my car...what would you do first

suspension? or allow the car to breath better by upgrading with induction kits , mainfold and exhaust?

btw what would really affect the insurance premium??

any ideas would be great and set my mind straight on what i would like to do :>

Thanks

Well I thought we hadn't had a new thread on this topic for at least 3 days . We really should have a sticky newbie modding thread!

The real techies probably wont respond to this until you've done a bit more research but the main question has to be what do you want to do?

An induction kit will improve noise and reduce heatsoak/kangarooing
You could put in a Supercharger to make the car go MUCH faster but you'd need to upgrade lots of other stuff.
An exhaust will look nice and make a loud noise
Coilovers will improve suspension and handling
Brakes are already pretty decent but if you want to change them then replace hoses with braided stainless steel ones and some different fluid.
You could get a stupid looking spoiler to make your car look like a shiny shopping trolley (like some folk!). You could get an even stupider chin spoiler and make your car look cheap!

Alot of people suggest that the best mod is a driving course.

You could detail your car (which I'm about to do!).

Truth is from modding point of view there's ALOT you can do and ALOT of money you can spend.

So far all I've done is an induction kit which is nice, improved throttle response and lovely sound past 6k and a new exhaust which makes a lovely sound and amplifies the induction kit but needs a decat to remove drone. Still planning on new brake hoses/fluid and when pads wear I'll replace those with ferodos. Also planning on replacing the audio because stock is pish .

Suggest you decide what to change and then do some searches on the products out there. Which is the precise opposite of what I did and now I realise how much of a tit I was being because it's been asked a million times before.

You could also talk to one of the good tuning shops, I've experienced TDI and they were great, there WAS a guy at Spoon Sports Europe who was ace but he's gone.

If you want to make it a nicer place to sit, heated seat and a nice stereo.
If you want to make it a fun track car, lose weight.
If you want to make it beat an Evo, sell it and buy a Skyline.

i am not sure...thing is i've owned the s for 8 months now and i just feel i could get a bit more out of it? I mean its suspensions really good as it is. I have been looking at air boxes , manifolds and exhausts from mugen and spoon do not know what to go for..is mugen more suited for the S? or should i go for spoon...altho have heard the spoons N1 exhaust is really loud... what about HKS?

the HKS is an open mushroom...the spoon one uses the old air box and mugen has its own....

so many choices...if it was price then HKS??? but what would be the difference for performance and sound wise???
