Default windscreen fixed - some points...

It seems that my original thread about broken windscreen has been removed - why? (too boring?)

anyway - Autowindscreens fitted a new one today

After leaving the car with them for about an hour I returned to see that they had actually moved the car into the garage area and all the fitters were looking it over.

I just couldnt understand why they had the bonnet up - to fit a windscreen

I walked in and asked wtf they were doing with my S2k.

It seems...

a) they dont like you just walking into their workshop (major ticking off from receptionist, who flew out of her office shouting at me to get out)

b) they needed to remove the "plastic guttering" at the base of the windscreen in order to remove/replace it.

This caused me a slight heart stopping moment but I let them go ahead and left the workshop

3 hours later (yes 3 hours)

The car was given back to me and all seems fine - so far

It is amazing how clear a new screen is - the wear on the original one must be enormous!

Did you ever try proper glass cleaner on your old one? I did before I travelled down to south of france, over and above my normal wash n wax, the difference was clear (sorry, but it was )

yes - I used "proper" glass cleaner on it. but I did notice (when the sun was shining) hundreds of what I could only describe as "mini stone chips on it.

What I would expect on a much older car
