loftust - The thought did cross my mind, I am going to see if the new rubber cures it on Friday, if not then I will have to get some new arms and try that.

EWJ - I'm assuming you mean the driveshafts? I'm not sure what they would sound like?

The more descriptive you get, the more I go back to my original thought that its a driveshaft.
Thats a real inner knuckle type feel.

It is possible the car has been lowered for 40k now.

If it was would I get any sound/vibrations at any other times?

I had a buggered driveshaft.

When accelerating hard it vibrated which was aggravated by cornering, I cant remember if it made a noise (was 5years ago !!)

Check the driveshafts for play first.

Update.

New tyres fitted, vibration gone!

I can confirm that very worn Eagle F1 Assymetrics do cause vibration under heavy load.

For reference the RE050 MZ's never did this when they were worn to same levels.

I have stuck with the F1's as I find them to be a better tyre.

Was there a 50p piece wear pattern on the tyres, like they were no longer round?

Phew, chepa option then!

My Paasat eats inner edges of rears and it sounds like a tractor on knobblies

Common issue on that car.

Tyres looked ok really, you could see what looked like a moulding join line in the rubber very faintly but that was about it.

I'm just happy it was something simple, off to Spa/Ring in two weeks!
