Have you considered crashing your S, then buying an oil burning Seat?

Its popular at the mo.

I could put you in touch with someone who is quite skilled in that area. Maybe then you could post pics of your new car? We like that on here.

No Seats for me thanks.
Writing my S off would mean I could get back what I originally paid for it, though.

I love my S2000.....no question.

BUT....Over that last year I have been weekend commuting back and forth to Cambridge. It has been....in retrospect....rather unpleasant.

Not cos of the S, more so the M-****ing-25!

I want to get a beater car.....but I have VERY limited resources.

Can anyone find me the CHEAPEST, MOST RELIABLE car.....to BUY and to RUN? Hopefully that would last at least a year! (a la Top Gear stylie)

The challenge is laid.........
I may know someone who is selling what could well be an ideal one for you. He has an R Reg Mitsubishi Carisma. Its a 1.6, 4 door, electric windows, central locking blah blah blah. Its been ultra reliable, and so economical: I used it to drive to Watford and back to work - it regularly returned 40+ mpg! OK it was a motorway run but im sure anyone cal tell you, the southbound M1 in rush hour isnt a 'typical' motorway run! The ride is very good too, nice and smooth.

If your interested let me know, then I can find out some more details. I think he was looking for around the

I bought a 1.1 pug 205 4 weeks ago for 400 quid, i spent 79 quid last week on a full service. it cruises at 80 mph on motorways and i have only filled it up once when i bought it and its done over 300 miles so far and well over quarter of a tank left .

I agree with StevenM, get a bike San.

Faster then an S2k (pretty much like an oil burning seat) , loads of fun and you never have to worry about traffic on the 25 again as you just weave through it

Problem with a bike will be that I won't be able to ferry anything in it.

San-Is buying a beater going to make your journey any more pleasant?

whats the reason for going back and forth to Cambridge? get this bit fixed so you don't have to commute. You're a bloody doctor FFS so you should know to treat the cause and not the symptoms

Sorry no advice on a beater car. Any car under a grand and in good shape will do the trick

As Carper says, please post pics when bought and then justify purchase with some useless stats, for example average depreciation per day, and max speed in reverse

Used Polo - had one a few years ago as a beater, kept it for 3 years on the street yet it started first time every time.
I never had it serviced and changed oil, filters and plugs myself, never went wrong once despite being over 10 years old when I bought it.

Had a quick look on Autoitrader, this has a years MOT so you've got a years motoring for
