I don't understand why... when I had no personal gains from this event other then the joy of bringing so many people together... why I should have to bear more burden then the next guy? Why I should take the financial hit!? It's just ironic how he says the raffle was tacky, and he would have paid out of his own pocket... or how he would have paid for Jeff's room to help out.... what's the difference?? instead of him paying $600 out of pocket if he was the event coordinator.... or just $75 as a friend helping me cover Jeff's expenses.... either way... as far as I can see it... paying $5 for 5 raffle tickets to contribute seems a little more fair...
Thats all I am saying. Since you organized the event, it is your responsibility (100%) to cover any losses, even if this was not for your personal gain. Lets say you had asked for donations, out of 60 or 70 people there, if most people pitched in $10, as a DONATION, you would have covered your loss, or at least most of it. But...I will say again, to make people pay for the raffle tickets that were supposed to be included in the registration price is very, very UNFAIR.
Im done now.

Joe, you are misinterpreting what I said. I am not saying it is not fair to pay for the raffle tickets, but to require payment for the raffle tickets, when it was supposed to be included in the price of registration is what was not fair. What would have been more fair, and IMO more people whould have been glad to do so, would be to ask for donations to cover unexpected costs, and still include the raffle tickets at no charge. I think 95% of the people there were unhappy that they had to now buy the tickets that they were supposed to get at not charge from the beginnign.

x100The best was, of course, when you called me a cheap basterd in front of the entire room because I refused to pay for raffle tickets that were "included."
