I'm speechless!!!!
I just spent a good 40 minutes reading everything in here, and I just dont know what to say.
I will agree that the raffle was very unsettling. I am going to have to also agree with Charlie that if I were in charge, I would have paid out of my pocket as much as possible, and asked that anyone willing to, would donate some money to help out. BUT....to tell people that they could not be in the raffle unless they purchased a ticket, considering we were all supposed to be entered with the initial registration fee, is not good business ethics, and very poor marketing skills. (I am a senior Marketing Major at UW Milwaukee, and taking a Principals Of Marketing Class right now.)
As far as getting Jeff and Heather a hotel room, I dont think that $75 is a big deal. If I had known, I would have bought him the room. Jeff did go through a lot of trouble to make that DVD, especially having to wait at TireRack for hours upon hours and get a tow home, and all the time spent with me uploading video and images from my cameras to his laptop. This was petty cash in the grand scheme of things.
OK, on this note.....
Open bar......Joe, Please do NOT take this personally, but a few bottles of liquor and some beer is not what I call open bar. It was greatly appreciated, extremely generous of you, especially after that long drive, but by no means anything extraordinary....you even said so in your post, "....noted and included in the original fee with the trip!"
Charlie, and hammered? Not in the same sentence! (nuff said here)
That said, I dont want anyone to think I am taking sides. It was an awesome event, and anyone and everyone I tell about it gets so excited that they want to see the DVD. I cant tell you how many times I have shown it to others, and they all love it. Some have even offered to come with me next summer. Hopefully, there will be one next summer, and now that the first year is done, we can ALL learn from our mistakes. I think everyone needs to just admit that this event was great, but nothing is ever perfect, especiall something of this caliber, and in its first year running.
One of my favorite quotes....
"Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment."
So lets just take this as experience, and not make any bad judgements in the future FWT's!!
All this being said, and since I am from Egypt, I will act in this thread as Egypt does in war....a Neutral Territory!!
Thats all.

You have GOT to be kidding!?? Please, Charlie- enlighten me... who did I buy alcohol for on Friday!?? Please feel free to get me up to speed... whom of the 17 members of this board... who were all with me on Friday night... did I buy alcohol for?? No One that I personally knew, or who was NOT affiliated with this board was even WITH ME on Friday night!! Ask your "best friend" Urmil... he was there! We supplied an open bar to the participants in Petoskey... and that was something that was noted and included in the original fee with the trip! The left overs, including what Urmil went to buy with my gf was used for YOU to get hammered on Saturday...!!
Please... I'd like to bring others into this- seemshow that appears to be the common theme... Let me get Johnny--2k and TheHooligan who drove ALL the way up there with me from Detroit... or any one of the individuals who were there for the drive!
