Are you actually going to live in Carmel, or is that just where your job is?
If you want to live near work (assuming you work in Carmel), maybe you'll want to live in Fishers. Pretty nearby, popular area. Both places are not real close to the bar scene, which is Broadripple.
Some other Indy people can probably help a little more, as I've been traveling to Terre Haute for work for two years, and am not so Indy-savvy these days.

I live in Carmel, work downtown. I used to live in Broadripple, then Pike township (NW Indy).
Carmel, and Fishers, are both nice, and you should have no trouble finding a nice new or at least newer construction home. Also consider Zionsville.
Send a me PM or at least post a reply and let us know what sort of place you are looking for (do you have school age kids, etc.), and I am sure the Indy area folks can provide some suggestions.

I see that you live in the Springs. You probably know where Ramah is located. My mother in law was the mayor there for a number of years. My wife was born in Pueblo and both of my brothers in law live in Denver.
Welcome to Indiana. We don't have any mountains, but we do have Brown County with some hills and fairly twisty roads. We also have the Indy 500, the only US F1 race and the Brickyard.
Where will you be working? Will you be looking for an apartment or a house?
Most of the folks that own our S2000's live on the north side of town, but there are a couple of hold outs like myself that live on the south side. I live 20 miles straight south of the circle just off of US31.
Welcome,
Bob

Thats interesting Bob. My sister and law and her husband lived in Pueblo for several years, and I stayed with them for a month while I did some of my clinicals in Colorado. Pueblo was hot compared to the Springs.

Thanks to all with for the input.
I'll be working in Carmel, but wouldn't mind anything under a 30 minute commute to work. I'm most likely going to be living single, so anything with 1-2 bedroom, garage, etc. would be ideal. I will only be in the area for 6 months, so renting will be the way to go.
Job moves me around alot, so it's hard getting accustomed to the varying landscapes. Colorado Springs = beautiful views with TONS of outdoor activities, but not a great city for singles.
How is living downtown? Would I pay an arm and a leg to get parking/garage for the S2K?
Thanks

I'd avoid downtown Indy. The drive to Carmel from downtown will likely be longer than 30 minutes and your choice of places will be limited, especially if you are looking for a garage. Getting a 6 month lease, however, would probably be easier downtown (when I first moved to Indy and worked downtown, I got a nice newly remodeled place close to downtown with a 6 month lease and lived there until I found I better place in Broadripple).
There are lots of newer construction places, with garages, in the far northside of Indy/Carmel area. Broadripple has lots of duplexes and homes for rent, some with garages, but my experience (albeit years ago) was that most good places rent merely by placing a sign in the yard, and so its hard for someone coming from outside of town to find a decent place before they are snatched up. Also, FYI people claim to have place in "Broadripple," only to have it be not in BR, but just north of the fairgrounds, or in Rocky Ripple, both IMO are places to avoid.
In Carmel, the places I would look at first are Providence on Old Meridian, AMLI (Springmill and Carmel Center) and Mohawk Hills. I think all of these places can be viewed at www.forrent.com.

I would definitely aggree on the Broadripple recommendation. You will enjoy the proximity to almost everything in town. It's not more than a 10-15 minute drive to Carmel and you will be going against the rush hour traffic flows so it will make for an easy commute. Also, it is about 15 minutes to downtown as well. Bart is right about finding a rental in Broadripple though. This is not something you want to do on line or through the classifieds in the paper. You should do it yourself.
BTW, get here before Memorial weekend and scalp some killer tickets for the 500. Then, just a few weekends later, catch the USGP. We should have something very cool in store for the F1 weekend.
