Default OEM or K and N filter?

I called around and Schaumburg Honda seemed to be the cheapest. Their OEM filter price was $33+tax.
Motorwerks wanted $48+ tax!!

What do you guys think about the K and N filter?
I already placed an order for it and it was $53 at Murry's Discount Auto.

Is it worth the extra $20 from experience?

For simple re-usability sake and saving $$$ on changing out an OEM filter three times, YES.

For performance-sake, in my experience, yes.

I have the K&N and a real Spoon intake. Only thing that I ever installed on a car, intake wise, that ever really made a seat-of-the-pants difference. Don't know about the K&N all by itself, but the combo worked great!!

I'll be curious to know what, if any, difference it will make in an S.

Ok fellas

I'm going to get the K and N but leave the OEM airbox. I guess most of you have a CAI with the K and N.

I have the K&N on my S with a stock airbox (non gutted) with a AUT Cooling plate and the K&N seems to make the car breathe a little easier, better throttle response, etc. Don't expect major gains, but it's a good cheap and easy mod.

I have the same setup on MY04. You can see the dyno results in the gateway forum. This is the 1st time on the dyno so I do not really know how much it helped. I mainly bought it due to the lower price of recharging vs buy replacement OEM filters

Don't count on any real performance gains. Its just a piece of mind you wont have to change your filter.

However I prefer to change the filter than cleaning the K&N.

That is never talked about.

You have to buy the 10$ cleaning kit.

Take the filter out, pretreat it with cleaner, scrub the outter screen, hose the filter off inside to out and then let it air dry overnight, and then oil the fuker.

Too much work IMO, rather just order the OEM filter online and change it out as prescribed.
