i cant remember the year it started but it only affects ap2s. what happened is to help drivetrain parts longevity (i assume the differential) honda added some type of 'clutch delay valve' (CDV). it basically slows the clutch drop speed so it's not so sudden and it reduces how bad it beats on the drivetrain.

i learned about it firsthand when i tried to launch wearing flip-flops. i didnt drop the clutch [i]quite /i[]as fast as usual, and with the added delay of the CDV, i ended up smelling toasted clutch and going nowhere. not a good thing to do, especially since changing the clutch in the car is such an ordeal.

but thats what it is and why some people remove them first thing.
