Any solution for mounting the snowboard on top?
Hi, I am wondering if any of you guys have ideas on how to put snowboards on top of the car (with soft top) ? if not, does a hard top has those mounting holes for one of those rack ? 3q~
You have to embrace the convertable lifestyle and drive topless with your board in the passenger seat! So it might be a little chilly, that is what the super-duper top down heater is for. What about rain??? Glad you asked... just drive fast!
Other than geppetto's idea (
), the only other thing I can think of is actually cutting the snowboard into 2 pieces and then some how putting it back together when you get to the mountain.... tape or glue might work.
All Jokes aside, one of my friends had looked into a way to getting a set of skis and a snowboard up to whistler last winter and figured out a way.... he borrowed his friend's pickup!

i've used geppetto's method lots of times, the toughest part is the solo ride to and from the mountain which isn't even that bad. i've seen a couple rx-7's up at whistler use a window mount where you can carry two boards on the side of the car
window mount ??? can u explain abit more? or where can i find it in the store? also is there anything like a trunk mount (u know like one of those for u r luggage) ?
thank you ~
thank you ~
this is the best i could come up with
http://www.orsracksdirect.com/thule-575.html
from what i remember, the racks the rx7's were using looked almost identical to the one in the link except they mounted it on the side of the car with the snowboards pointing upwards & away from the car
i completely forgot to mention that i've seen a couple hardtop miata's running racks that sit across the back window & trunk, might want to ask around on the mazda forums. and you can also fit hitch racks that stand the boards up vertically behind the car, kinda like http://www.orsracksdirect.com/thule-987xt-...h-ski-rack.html
it might just be easier to drive up with the board as your passenger and your friend in a taxi

what i have done is put the skis in the passenger seat top down, and then close the softtop.
I had 193's and i think they dindt' fit, but then i got a pair of shaped skis which were 175, and they fit perfectly.
This was taking them to the tuning shop however
My gf is Tiny and even i dont think she'd be too comfortable sitting in the passenger seat for the 1.5hours or 40mins to Whister or Cypress.
Best bet is to give your skis/board to a friend's SUV adn drive up there with your alpine/arctic tires!
