Default Upgrading the HU

I was just wondering how many of you upgraded your Head Unit, and retained your dash controls.

I really dont know anything about car audio, and really wouldnt know what to do if i were to replace the HU, but i would like to keep the dash controls working with a new HU.

You should search in the electronics forum. There's loads of information there that will really help you out.

I got a Pioneer over the winter. You will need to get the Modifry DCI from Lucid, the kit has the INTO harness which plugs directly into your stock harness without having to tap the wires. Just make sure when ordering from Lucid that you tell him to mark the item as a gift and indicate that it was made in the US. Otherwise Customs will rape you. It should take you less than an hr to pull the stock HU out and hook up the new HU.

I have added an Alpine MP3 unit and also picked up the Lucid/Modifry DCI unit. The DCI unit (including delivery and Customs) is ridiculously expensive at nearly $200 CDN, but if you want the upgrade and to keep the controls, there is no choice!

I don't have first hand experience but if you do a search in the Electronic forum you might be able to dig something up.
