I've purchased 17" Volks for the track, lapping days/solo only. Using stock wheels with OEM tires for street.

The volks are 17x7.5 Front. 17x9 Rear.

I can get really decent prices on Proxes RA-1.

I am going to put 255/40/17 on the back since they have an optimal fit for 17x9.

In the front I am trying to decide. I am using the stock front swaybar.

According to toyo specs...
205/50/17 will fit 6.5 optimally but will go on 7.5.
205/40/17 will fit 7.5 optimally but I think are too small OD

What do you guys think is the better choice between those front sizes. Also, is there another DOT approved R tyre with better fitment for these rim sizes that you might know about?

I just went with the 235s in the front and 275s in the rear.

 

I was just talking to a guy who sets up cars for a local race team and he uses 235/45/17 RA-1s in the front on 7.5 inch rims.

I don't know about 275 in the back though. DAMN.

Do you have any rubbing in front with 235? At full turning radius?
