40mm offset with pics
I would say going to the 205/50R17 front will improve the handling of the car. It will also limit any rubbing you may have as well. I would say if you like it then it is good. If you were tracking the car then it is a different story.

Unsafe? Quite the opposite.
Some more feedback for you. I put the following winter package on my car in November. I purchased this from Discount Tire (at their suggestion). BTW, I have a 2002..
*16" x 7" x 40mm offset wheels--all four corners.
*205/55-16 Hankook's (front)
*225/50-16 Hankook's (rear).
I haven't rolled my fenders, and have had no rubbing at all. The only thing that I've noticed is that my car gets dirtier because of the slush kicked up by the fronts.
Obviously I've modified my driving style for winter w/winter tires, meaning that I'm not cornering aggressively, and rarely going to 9000 rpm. I'll revert to my stock wheels and SO-3's in the Spring.
Maintain the stagger though--If you don't the oversteer will give you all sorts of problems, esp. in the rain!

I'll agree with that.
Can't agree with that. It's unsafe for the average driver. And 95% of us are average drivers. In an emergency situation, most people will forget all about their driver training. If the car is prone to oversteer in an emergency situation, that's a bad thing.

The Arctic Alpin's are winter tires. That's a heck of a lot safer driving in snow than with summer tires. I'm sure you can agree with that.

Jon, for one, I could care less if you or anyone else likes my car or me. But I post pictures of it on the internet like this guy did, and take whatever compliments or flames without asking for anyone elses defense. I'm guessing you were the dork on the playground and got picked on a lot, and instead of not being a dork, you just cried about it. People like you are the reason we have this sissy @$$ political correctness BS.
This owner posted pictures of his car, you can't expect everyone to like it, and since in this country we have freedom of speech, someone like myself might tell him I think it's ugly or stupid. I'm hoping at 17 years of age this guy can handle it.
Bottomline is Black2001S2K put under par wheels and tires on his car. And will now attempt to drive the car the way he did when he had nice performing factory spec equipment, wrap around a tree, and yours, mine, and everyone elses insurance will go up. So in turn, we can try to enlighten him on the better path to be taken, or we can bitch at everyone that doesn't agree with what he did.

As for some of your unrelated comments about me personally, politically, etc... Boy, your digging for something. Can you not handle what you dish out to others. You have no idea who I am so what do I care what you say about me. You just can't handle it when somebody tells you the way things are. Other than being beaten as a child, I will not guess WTF is wrong with you. As for what this forum is about(S2000's), yeah!, your wheels still suck in my opinion. But just like I told the guy who started this thread, it's what you like and thats all that matters. It's just unfortunate that you have poor taste. Not your fault though. You just don't know any better. Have a nice day your highness.
Jon
Come on newbies be nice.
Most of this crap was beat to death in 2001-2002. This is all really old news. I noticed a lot of you guys are newbies and dont really have an idea on tire sizes/offset/weights/camber etc. Some of you do.
All you had to do was ask.
This guy can run a 17x7 or 17x8 rear with a +40 offset and go upto a 235/40/17 rear tire. He can go as low as a +38 17x8 rear with a 235 tire and he WILL NOT RUB with a 2.0 inch drop. 245s will rub at a more than 2.0 inch drop even with mild camber adjustments. Will he loose contact patch over OEM, yeah some. But for daily driving/commuting its fine. I would run a 205 or 215 front tire in the front and slap on a 225 or 235 rear on his aftermarket 17s. That way he can still lower it 1 inch or 1.5 inches. You also have to realize that once he starts lowering the car you will gradually have added negative camber. That comes with any car and lowering it. Almost common sense.
As for Hyperpmek, well he is speaking from track experience with his past cars and present team experience. He has his own experiences just like the next guy and if something doesnt work or performs worse than OEM then your going to hear about it from me or Ryan or Ben or Chris or whoever. We are here to help/advise members to not go down the wrong path with certain wheels, offsets, sizes, etc. We have been there. I have made mistakes just like the next guy but we have learned with time, experience, and driving.
Now just for consolation.
I am running a 17x7.5 +43 with a 215/45/17 front tire and it clears the Endless 6 pot BBK. The rears I am running a 17x8.5 +54 and am using a 255/40/17 rear tire. I am dumped 3.0 inches in the front and 2.75 in the rear. I kept it up a tad in the rear in order for me to run a fatter header. Plus they sit very low. I have custom suspension, custom wider front fenders, and custom camber, and a few other things.
My point is these wheels will work but in reality I would like to see a staggered 17x7 or 17x7.5 and a 17x8 or 17x8.5 with this +40 offset. Well not with a +40 on a 17x8.5 rear but you get what I am saying.
If any of you have BBK/wheel questions let us know.
