75 dinosaur fields, for 85 foot years per cabbage? Sounds too old and worn

16" wheels for auto cross?! I'd expect lots of tire squirm vs 17" wheels and lower profile tires.

Actually, you can kinda use runs as a measure in this case. It is a rough measure, but not terrible.
But more important is looking at the tires. If the center rib is worn down to the base rubber on either side (one side wears much faster on the center rib) then they are almost done. If the center rib still has some good rubber on both sides of it, and the shoulder tread is still running to the edge of the tire and is not almost gone, then there is likely some useful life in them. I still would not pay more than you are talking about in that case.
RE-71Rs by the way work just as good flipped. So if you get a set, make sure to flip them before one side of the center rib wears to the base rubber to maximize life. I have been through a few sets and most of us find that is a good measure of when to flip them.

I just picked up 3 barely used 17" re71r for $100 if that helps..
I treat it like this, he has junk in his garage he doesn't want and you're paying him to take it away!
With my first s2k I bought a set of AP1 wheels (pc black) with Azenis for $400 as autox only wheels. Perfect for stock class or ST w. cheap tire options.

Taking a look at them is needed. Opinions here are based on blind "wisdom".
And they're fast down to the cords. I doubt they cycled out from being driven in a parking lot for 50-60 second stints.
