im looknig for a set too
Er I meant I was going to get 225/50/16 fronts and 245/45/16 rears. I've read up the sticky and it says correct sizing for rear is 245 for the ap1, no?

well, if you go by that train of thought, it leave out lots of excellent performing 225s...and from what ive read most 225s are not much different foot print wise...if ive understood it correctly.

We are doing a test next week with the Star spec, RE11, Advan Neova and the Kumho XS. I will post what I find in driving them.
Any update?

I'm not quite sure I understand?

Are you saying 245 doesn't always > 225 in the rear? I've always thought wider = better, hence the reason why so many people try to go wide as possible.

So when most of you guys shop for new tires on stock ap1 rims, you guys look for 205/225?

The reason for 245/45/16 is because the Honda Spec Bridgestone S0-2 is wider then all the other manufactures 225/50/16.

Therefore to get a tire from another manufacture you would need a 245/45/16 to get back to what you had before.

225 will give you a smaller size tire

I thought it was not that much of a difference? I guess you gotta check manufacters specs. But wider is not always better there is usually a compromise and a sweet spot.

But since star specs don't come in 245/45/16, I'd have to buy a different tire if I want to run that size. Do I compromise much by running 225/50/16 instead?

well thats also the thing, by eliminating 50 225/50 you take away lots of great tires

225/16 Star Specs, RE01Rs, etc tend to measure similar to the stock S-02s.
