Fitment Questions: 17 x 9 + 40?
Hi guys, I'm pretty new to s2k ownership and I don't know much about fitment and stance. My friend however offered me some gram light 57transcend for a steal. They're 17 x 9 + 40. I was wondering if I could run this set up on stock suspension and stock body. I have not rolled or pulled my front fenders yet either.

They are going to poke. A lot. They will probably also eat the fenders.

Oh okay good to know. I've been asking a few s2000 owners in my area about it and they think it should fit okay on the stock body. Im getting multiples answer all varying from duh it will and duh it wont. I'm testing fitting them tomorrow. I've seen other s2000's run 17 x 9 + 40 but theyre lowered on coils with at least 2-3 degrees of camber. Thoughts?

They 100% require rolled fenders. At stock height you may be ok but it isn't worth risking it. They will look really odd at stock height and poke alot as well. Roll fenders, then suspension then put them on and dial in camber. The offset orgin bushings for the front would also be something to look at for this spec. The front is a much bigger issue than the rear on these cars as there is less space and since3 the wheel turns much more chance for damage.

hmm. thats what i was thinking. Stock wheel offset is already like +55. So going from +55 to +40 is a lot. I wanna definitely go lower on some BC BR coilovers. The deal he gave me was 1000. So I was thinking of getting them now and somehow just run them without too much fender work. Ill definitely post about how it fits tomorrow onnce I test fit everything. Thanks for your response!

Any reason other than a "steal" price you're considering buggering the car to fit these wheels? (Just curious.)
If you have 16" wheels the OE 17" wheels will simply bolt on and you can run "CR" spec size tires (215/45R17 front and 255/40R17 rear) on them and even bump the fronts up to 225/45R17 without messing with the fenders or suspension.

Yup. If it is the kind of thing where it is a really good deal and you can save them till you can do the other mods first that is what I would do and what I did end up doing with my wheels. I have seen to many damaged fenders due to putting wheels on before having other work done first that it just isn't worth it. There will always be other sets of wheels and other deals to be had also so unless you really like this specific wheel in this specific spec even if it is a good deal it may not be worth the hassle when you will end up changing them down the road.

17X9 with a 255 on it requires rolling the tabs even with a +63mm offset if you want to avoid eating fenders and are lowered at all. +40 is a bad fitment. People do it, but I wouldnt. You will need a full roll like some have stated and it still may grab a fender if you are lowered and ever hit a big bump while turning. I barely caught my fender with the tire on a huge bump in a turn when I slid off an autox course once and I have +63mm offsets and am only lowered 1" and had 850# front springs

A 9+40 regardless of fender roll means your going to be limited within reason on running a 245 section width max up front just fyi. Or outside of reason plan on running more camber then you want/should and flaring The F out of the front fenders if you don't want to rub at more then little steering input navigating around town.

But $1000 for gram lights isn't a screaming deal imo.
Mind you, on fitment my car is a street car and I'm talking for those uses. My car is lowered and I drive on some of the worst roads in America regularly without issue.
People who only use stock wheels should probably not be offering any misinformed takes.
Edit: Unless these are your absolute favorite wheels just hold off. They'll look dumb on stock suspension and definitely require a roll. If you want to make the car look better lower it. If that isn't a must for you, leave it stock or buy old man spec wheel sizes.
