Default fitting wide tires

I plan on buying some rims soon. The sizes of the rims are as follows:

Front: 17x7.5" with a +49mm offset
Rear: 17X9.5 with a +65mm offset

I am wanting to run a 275 wide tire in the rear and a 215 wide tire in the front. I was just wondering, which size profiles would i need for the heights in order for them to fit and not rub. I'm lowered on Skunk2's as well. I was thinking maybe

Front: 215/45 17
Rear: 275/40 17

Will these sizes look weird or fit wrong, maybe different heights? Please feel free to leave any comments, all help would be appreciated.

thanks

I think that 275 will be a taller tire than the 215.

Why do you want to run such a drastic stagger?

Clickie the Tire Rack banner above and do a search on tire sizes in Max Perf and Extreme Perf (assuming that's the type of tire you want/need).

You'll find that the 275/40-17 is about an inch taller than the 215/45-17 stock front or 245/40-17 stock rear sizes. If you do go with 275/40 rears, you probably want 225/45 fronts (still a big diametral difference at .7"). You'll also find there's a much bigger selection of 255/40-17 tires than 275/40's.

Well i saw a 275 wide tire today on an m3 and definately do not want that wide. I want something wide but in the same time not over the top. I think a 255 wide tire in the rear will do just fine for me. Now if I run a 255/40 17 in the rear with a 225/45 17 in the front I should be good right? The wheels I am planning to get are SSC comps. 17x9.5 +65 for the rear. I was just going off of the tire size chart on here and thought the 275's would fit because of the offset on the SSC's. I want both front and rear tires be almost identical in diameter. Please let me know what you guys think.

225/45-17 and 255/40-17 are the same height.
215/45-17 and 245/40-17 are also the same height.

215/45-17 fronts with 255/40-17 rears would give you slightly larger-OD rears, but not a biggie IMO, so you might consider that option as well.

would the 9.5 +65 with 275 tire in the rear clear the suspension?

I put 255 azenis on my rear and drove with that setup for months before my fronts finally wore out, which I then did replace with 225s, but I had no problems with the 215s. Actually, I think I experienced sharper turn in due to the smaller sidewall.

The only con about that setup that I can think of was that during the winter while under hard breaking on less than perfect surfaces (bumpy or loose sand or salt) I could get the ABS light to light up. It would go back out after the car was restarted and not come back on again until I put myself in the exact same scenario, braking hard with on a surface with poor traction.
